Seoul Late Summer Trip Itinerary

When Hubbie told me he would have to fly to Seoul for business meetings I immediately said I wanted to tag along as I have never been to Korea. Never mind it was still summer (well hopefully very late summer) and forget the fact that I was not a fan of Kdrama. I could not get a cheap ticket because everything was impromptu but I got a fair deal with Asiana airlines. Cheaper than flying with Korea air and Garuda. It is a direct flight from Jakarta, member of star alliance (so I get mileage points) and timing was also most convenient (departing Wednesday 23.45 and leaving Sunday 17.15).

So this is a three and a half day itinerary in Seoul is very packed; starts early morning and ends midnight. Not suitable if you are traveling with children.

Day 0:
Midnight fly Jakarta-Seoul (Direct)
Day 1:
Landed Seoul 09.55 morning and checked in to our Hotel in Gangnam area. Explore Gyeongbokgung Palace, Samcheong-dong street, Shopping in Myeongdong, Boungensa temple at night and Gangnam nightlife
Day 2:
Morning Half Day DMZ Tour (finished at 2.30pm) and visit Namsan Park and climb N Seoul Tower. See Coex mall (Seoul biggest shopping Mall) at night.
Day 3:
Full Day Tour to Petite France, Nami island and Gangchon Rail Bike. Back to Seoul at 8pm and continue to see nightlife in Hongdae.
Day 4:
Visit Bukchon Hanok village, Insadong and Ikseon-dong. Late checked out at Hotel and fly home at 17.15

One thing to note is when I went to Seoul, I have not converted into Kdrama Fans. I already am now so on my next visit to South Korea I will add visit to some of the Kdrama shooting place and perhaps add fan meeting also. If you go for longer trip you can add Jeju Island and Busan to itinerary. Sadly I didn’t have enough time to go to Jeju and Busan.

Summer is also not the best time to come as South Korea gets very hot and humid in the month of June, July and August. The best time to come is during Cherry Blossom season in spring, Autumn to see the beautiful yellow and red leaves and winter if you would like to see some snow.
