Haunting in Venice – A Treat for Agatha Christie and Kenneth Branagh Fan !

Some movies already attractive at the moment few words are mentioned. To me these words are Agatha Christie and Kenneth Branagh. I have watched nearly every movies with Kenneth Branagh in it. He is to me an epitome of THE British Actor and Director. Death on the Nile, Murder on the Orient Express, Oppenheimer, Harry Potter series, Dunkirk, Hamlet, Tenet, Cinderella and As You Like It. They are all very nicely done. Equally, I love Agatha Christie, I grew up with her books, from the mainstream ones such as Hercule Poirot and Ms Marple to the more quaint ones like … Continue reading Haunting in Venice – A Treat for Agatha Christie and Kenneth Branagh Fan !

Moving : An Unusually Great Series

I was not in the beginning keen to start watching Moving given what I read that it is about super power teenagers versus Governments. I am a Marvel addict through and through, but even then sometime I want a bit of pause from its bombardment. Aside from Jo In Sung, the rest is not names I have in my mindso not until my best buddy recommend me to try Moving I started to sample. I have not regretted since.  Moving is in Disney+ (who now very pleasantly surprised with the flood of interest to Moving that must have made them mint money), it is based on webtoon by … Continue reading Moving : An Unusually Great Series

Fujii Kaze’s Piano Asia Tour Review

I have been listening to Japanese music forever. It probably started during my tween when my mom regularly played Koto music somehow. We were normal middle class family but my mom has somehow aspiration that her kids should be polyglots and culturally aware despite we do not have the mean to travel. Listening to Japanese music was one of ways for her to introduce me to the beauty of culture. I somehow love it then and never really stop. My mom introduce me to Momoe Yamaguchi, Teresa Teng and Kyu Sakamoto (which I still sung on Shinenkai and Bonenkai in my past roles and love very much).  Personally … Continue reading Fujii Kaze’s Piano Asia Tour Review

Top Reasons Why Women’s Networks Are Always Beneficial, Not Only for Your Employees but Also for Your Business

I was introduced to the world of women’s networks during my time at Shell Singapore, and it was an exhilarating, empowering, and insightful experience. Being part of a sisterhood dedicated to supporting others and fostering growth, professionally and personally, was … Continue reading Top Reasons Why Women’s Networks Are Always Beneficial, Not Only for Your Employees but Also for Your Business

Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q Sutanto – A Review

I have to make disclosure that I have read Jesse’s past books, Dial A for Aunties and Four Aunties and A Wedding, and madly fell in love with them (that’s for the next reviews). These two books are making Chinese Indonesian Amah and Ayi (mother and aunties) front and centre with their hillarious focus on their children, to say I love it, truly understatement.  So when Vera’s Wong Unsolicited Advice for Murderers are published, I am intrigue. I have always loved detective and mysteries books, I collected hundreds of them, I grew up on them, I can even marked my life milestone nearly with these books. One of my … Continue reading Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q Sutanto – A Review

Indiana Jones – Dial of Destiny

I grew up with Indiana Jones movies and fell in love with Harrison Ford along the way. I like it so much that my Petra trip was indeed inspired by Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade movie. I also like Indiana Jones as the female lead is not the weak, clingy type but (some are) independent to a fault, smart, with a tinge of baggage. At the very least, given this is adventure series, the ladies can’t all be lounging around in some salon all the time. Growing up, one has to look up to some real idol on screen and Indiana Jones movies is it for me.  Since last Indiana Jones … Continue reading Indiana Jones – Dial of Destiny

Oppenheimer – The Best Biopic in this Century (for me)

I am sure there are already many reviews wax lyrical about Oppenheimer – and I agree with all of those reviews. It is a deja vu for my feeling as when I watch The Post or Beautiful Mind or on the lighter side but no less quality, Bohemian Rhapsody. That feeling when you watch a masterpiece, even three hours went so fast and every other moment you feel awestruck on many of the scenes. Oppenheimer is basically a truly epic biopic written and directed by Christopher Nolan. Nolan is award winning Director with his latest achievement is Dunkirk (he won … Continue reading Oppenheimer – The Best Biopic in this Century (for me)

Queenmaker

I was a bit hesitating on whether or not I should watch Queenmaker. However upon reading the synopsis, which said that it is a drama about Korea politics where the leads are (nearly all) strong women characters, it is too intriguing to miss. The story is about accomplished fixer named Hwang Do-hee who works for Eunsong Group, chaebol (by now I realize how fixated and classic is chaebol theme for nearly all Korean writers) that focuses on retail and real estate (this also pretty classic). She fixed nearly unfixable situation with gusto. On the other side, we have Oh Kyung-sook … Continue reading Queenmaker

Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One

My husband made a comment yesterday before we watched Mission Impossible that for him coming out of Mission Impossible movies, he always subconciously walk a bit straighter. I actually agreed, the feeling is that you were taken in a daring achingly modern adventure to save the world – literally.  The story revolve around Ethan Hunt as one of the living legend of IMF (I just realise it stands for Impossible Mission Force) and his team is to track down and retrieve sentient AI that gone rogue and become evil and out to rule the world with its merry band of rogue including one of them someone came back from the … Continue reading Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One
